Work Experience
MetroX For Amdocs
Metro-X is an R&D initiative focused on creating a suite of capabilities that will enable Amdocs and its customers to perform a real DevSecOps transformation.
Project Overview
In order to run their businesses, big telecom companies have their own ecosystems. This includes the Operations Support System (OSS) & the Business Support System (BSS). Example: To maintain the database, upgrade the DB, add users, handle their org etc
My Role
Most of my responsibilities included designing the user interface, updating the Style Guide, and improving the overall experience by creating the interaction and making it intuitive.
I was also part of the requirement gathering and testing and research phases.
I also implemented the process for Migrating from sketch to Figma.
Project Goals
Digitize the system by automating all manual processes.
Making User Flows that are smooth and without dead ends.
Enhancing the overall user experience by designing intuitive interactions.
Streamlining all activities into one experience saves the user time, effort, & money.

Project Execution
MetroX is a browser-based portal that automates all manual processes to reduce Total Cost of Ownership and to provide faster Trailing 12 months (TTM). As part of this process, we follow the DevSecOps framework.
Research
Our first step was to assemble feedback from internal users, such as customer support, as well as from user interviews on how the day-to-day manual processes are being implemented. We were particularly interested in the reasons why users were working outside of the application portal, and how they did so. Since the existing processes aren't getting adopted quickly, we were curious about why and how they were doing so. The major advantage of their solution process was the ease of use, even though it was very manual and based primarily on spreadsheets.During this phase, we also did extensive competitive research both in the open market and the other internal apps which have some of the intended features.

Concepts & Prototypes
A number of concepts were sketched for each new feature. Favourites were given medium-fidelity treatments in preparation for stakeholder reviews. The design was iterated, and the Dev team was also included in the process for their feedback.
For each new feature, we moved on from discovery and analysing once we had a good feel for the major pain points and opportunities with the current solution.
I began by sketching several solutions. In some cases, quick wireframes are created using online tools. Creating an intuitive, user-centric experience that prioritizes quickly accomplishing a particular task and making small adjustments based on expected outcomes - such as adding new users, revoking privileges, and bouncing a server or environment.
Once we had a good direction we moved on to low-fidelity prototypes. These prototypes were run by several internal users, iterating based on the feedback, and ultimately tested with a set of external users to validate the approach.
The feedback on this approach was overwhelmingly positive. However, we identified a few areas for improvement, including dealing with large organizations and the need for alternative approaches to making a task flow efficient & without dead ends.

Outcome
Metro-X is a living project and one that is not going to end soon. We continue to add new features to the system and iterate/polish on the existing features within.
The number of resources dedicated to MetroX has grown recently to include a full-fledged team of front-end and back-end developers, and designers. Working with the team, we are establishing release schedules (minor and major) sprint-wise to achieve our release goals in an agile manner.
As a result of our homework up front, we were able to identify the key features MetroX needed to succeed. With this solution, Amdocs and our customers will be able to achieve a true DevSecOps transformation of multigenerational applications running on multigenerational platforms.
While we are working on our Product Roadmap and assimilating capabilities to enable Fusion to move forward to the Digital era, we are parallelly working on several activities like Front-end Development on React Framework, NextGen Drift Detection, change to open-source products enabling better penetration and cost reduction, Zero Touch Initiatives etc.
Though the feature is still in beta, adoption by the beta users has been very high, with almost all of them using it. We will monitor in general release and iterate as necessary to ensure broad adoption.
